At a bare minimum you want 1" of clearance between the tires on your tandem axle trailer, more is better. You are correct, the tire can expand when it heats up which would definitely be a safety concern if your tires are rubbing together which could cause some serious issues. You will want to switch back to the original tire size which should give you the clearance you need to be safe.

Lippert removed the old sticker gauge from their Trailair Air Ride pin boxes # LC158778 because they were receiving a lot of complaints about it not matching up with the smoothest ride depending on the trailer. Since the pressure needed for the air bag is dependent on the pin weight, and that can vastly change depending on the trailer and what you have loaded in it, there isn't really a good catch all psi setting.
